Mountain Lion Awareness Community Meeting - Solano County

Thursday, April 28, 2016, 7:00pm at Green Valley Country Club, Mansion Ballroom, 35 Country Club Drive, Green Valley

Recent sightings of mountain lions in and around Green Valley have prompted GVLA to invite Zara McDonald, Executive Director of Felidae Conservation Fund, to present information about mountain lion (also called pumas) biology and ecology. Regional research currently underway will be discussed along with mountain lion presence and viability at urban wildland interfaces in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Bay Area Puma Project is a multi-faceted study launched to research mountain lions, educate the public, and recommend responsible development that considers local wildlife and their habitats.

Mountain lions play a critical role in maintaining the health and biodiversity of our ecosystems. However, expansion of human populations is causing increasing encounters and conflicts between humans and mountain lions, and growing tensions in our local communities. Felidae discusses mountain lion ecology and history, the challenges of sharing the habitat with mountain lions, and offers essential tips for living and recreating without fear in mountain lion country.
