Felidae Lectures in Greater Boston Area
July 13-17, 2010
During a week in the middle of July, Felidae's Executive Director, Zara McDonald, gave a series of lectures in the greater Boston area about pumas, Felidae, and the Bay Area Puma Project. The talks were presented in zoos and a nature center, with audiences comprised of kids and adults who were getting their first significant exposure to the true nature of the puma, its role in the environment, and the challenges that it is facing due to human encroachment into its habitat. Because there are no wild pumas on the east coast, many of the attendees had very little previous awareness about this magnificent animal that still roams wild on the west coast. Their thoughtful questions and close attention showed that Zara and her presentation were making a strong impression.
